While stainless steel is still the most popular choice when it comes to choosing appliances, it doesn't always fit the look of someone's kitchen. It can look too modern with more classic or rustic cabinets and colors. So, what other options are out there?
Many manufacturers still have black appliance lines, but most of them have switched over to a shiny finish versus textured. This look can be very sleek, but it shows fingerprints like crazy! I'm hoping the manufacturers bring back a high-end textured black, because that's what I prefer.
If black isn't your thing, I still don't suggest white appliances. White appliances have kind of become like the 60s and 70s avocado - they're dated. If you're looking to add resale value to your home, you can really date your kitchen if you put in white appliances.
There are other options, such as a slate color, and there are appliance covers, magnets and skins available. However, these can get expensive.
Don't be afraid to blend finishes! If you do end up picking stainless appliances, you can still do oil-rubbed bronze lights and cabinet hardware. You don't have to worry about making sure everything matches. I think stainless works like a neutral, and I think its here to stay.
