Eau Claire County (WQOW) - The Chippewa Valley is seeing an increase in homes built, compared to the past few years, according to C&M Properties and Construction.
The Eau Claire-based construction company said the number of homes built is up almost 30 percent. The Chippewa Valley Home Builders Association even said there were 15 building permits received between January and March of 2014, which is a number that almost doubled during the same time this year.
C&M said most of the demand for new homes comes from baby boomers and empty nesters looking to move into town and build smaller more efficient homes. They also said almost a third of their clients are people moving to the Chippewa Valley for the first time.
"It's just exciting what is going on in the Chippewa Valley," Cody Filipczak, C&M Properties and Construction owner, said. "What's going on in Altoona and the Confluence and all of these different areas."
Looking beyond new homes, Wisconsin REALTORS Association said there were more than 1,200 homes sold in Eau Claire County in 2014, a number that was almost matched by June of 2015.
C&M Home Builders and Real Estate is a family-owned Eau Claire real estate agency. Cody and Molly, the founders of C&M Real Estate, started their first business, C&M Home Builders, in 2005 and began building homes in the Eau Claire area. In 2011, they expanded their services to include Eau Claire realty and began C&M Real Estate.
